SS Vega Memorial Ceremony

There will be a short service held to commemorate the aid delivered to the Island from the International Red Cross ship SS Vega, which arrived on 30 December 1944 to deliver lifesaving aid to islanders on the brink of starvation.

The service will commemorate this moment and the roles that the International Red Cross, St John Ambulance and others played as well as how aid has developed from 1940 to present day and the role Jersey plays internationally.

The event will be attended by recipients of the Red Cross Parcels and speeches will be given by The Bailiff, Chief Minister, David Peppiatt OBE and Deputy Carolyn Labey, Minister for International Development.

Members of the public are warmly invited to attend.
