Eric Blakeley: Betrayed by the Nazis - The Search for Justice

12 May, 6pm | The Reading Room, Jersey Library

One of a series of talks at Jersey Library focusing on the Occupation, Liberation and its aftermath.

In this talk Eric Blakeley will investigate who informed on Louisa Gould to the Nazis.

In 1944, having been informed on for hiding a Russian slave worker, and for illegally possessing a gun and wireless, an informal group of Jersey resistance fighters were arrested and tried. Two of them ended up in concentration camps. Louisa Gould was gassed in Ravensbrück, while her brother, Harold Le Druillenec, narrowly cheated death in Bergen-Belsen. But who informed on them, and why they were never brought to justice? Eric Blakeley goes in search of answers.
